Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, accompanied by Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar, personally inspected 1,064 tonnes of Public Distribution System (PDS) rice bags on a barge at Kakinada Port, set to be illegally transported to West African countries. During the inspection, Pawan Kalyan questioned the district and port officials about their lack of action in preventing the illegal transportation of PDS rice.
This follows a similar inspection two days ago, where Pawan Kalyan oversaw the interception of 640 tonnes of rice on the Stella L Panama ship, which was preparing to transport the rice about 9 nautical miles into the sea.
The illegal shipment was stopped under the leadership of Kakinada district collector Shanmohan and Civil Supplies Corporation chairman Thota Sudheer. Furious over the ongoing illegal activities, Pawan Kalyan lashed out at the officials, expressing frustration that despite repeated visits by public representatives, such illegal shipments continued unabated. He demanded immediate action against those involved in the illegal movement of rice and instructed officials to prevent such activities in the future.
