Leopard sightings spark fear among residents of Gudibanda mandal

Sri Satya Sai District: Residents of Gudibanda mandal headquarters in Sri Sathya Sai district are living in fear following repeated leopard sightings near their village. According to locals, multiple leopards have been seen roaming in groups on a nearby hill, creating widespread tension and sleepless nights.

Villagers reported that three leopards have made a long-term habitat in the dense bushes of the adjacent hill. While they typically stay on the hill during the day, the animals reportedly venture into nearby residential areas at night in search of food. Their growing proximity has led to frequent attacks on livestock, leaving cattle owners deeply alarmed. Several livestock deaths have been attributed to these predators in recent weeks.

Farmers, fearing for their safety, are now reluctant to visit their fields during early mornings and late evenings. They voiced concern over the risks posed to both their lives and their livelihoods.

Despite repeatedly lodging complaints, residents allege that forest department officials have not taken adequate action. They accuse authorities of implementing only temporary measures without offering a permanent solution. The villagers have appealed to senior officials for immediate intervention, calling for stronger protective measures to address the ongoing leopard threat.
