The granite industry in Joint Prakasam district is in crisis due to Jagan’s government. Market disadvantage, failure to fulfill the promises given by Jagan government and lack of initiative to solve the problems have caused irreparable damage to the owners. Against this backdrop, the Marturu Granite Factory Owners’ Association has decided to shut down the industries. As a result, around 200 granite industries under the association will be closed from Sunday. On Friday, Pattipati Suresh, president of Martur’s Granite Industries Owners’ Association, and members of the association told the media about the reasons for shutting down the industries. They stated that they have been mired in problems for several years. They said that they have cut stones of jaganna land survey boundary stones worth about Rs.50 crores in the hope that they will get out this crisis at least temporarily. No one is taking the stones on behalf of the government along with this, the government has increased the unit price of electricity charge from Rs.5.50 to Rs.9. He said that during the division of districts, the government has reduced the royalty rate for some of the newly formed districts. With this, it is hoped that the royalty per blade will be reduced from Rs.27,000 to Rs.22,000 in the industry in Marturu area. But, he expressed regret that the government did not pay attention. He questioned the reason for collecting mining royalty of Rs. 27 thousand for Chimakurti galaxy granite, which is exported to other countries, and the third type of steel gray in Martur. Apart from that, those who have built industries have not received the full amount of interest, power subsidy and other subsidies from the government. He said that the government, which had earlier said that it would waive the electricity service charges for three months during the Corona period, forgot to do so. They said that the lack of price in the market, lack of buyers, lack of labor etc. have caused them irreparable damage. The granite industry will survive only if the government responds positively to their problems, the owners said. He said that the only way is to close the industries till then. On the other hand, the president of the owners’ association, Chittipustu Mastanayya, said in a statement on Friday that the granite industries in Ballikurava mandal will also be closed from the 10th of this month. He said that this decision was taken after discussing with the owners of the granite industry in their area.
