A police constable of the Special Protection Force, aged 34, committed suicide on Thursday by shooting himself in the chest. According to a police official, P Shankar Rao was responsible for guarding the Indian Overseas Bank’s chest at Dwaraka Nagar in the port city and used a self-loading rifle to end his life at around 5:50 am. The official stated that Rao, a father of two from Rajam town, had been facing financial problems. The police registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC.
