Botsa Satyanarayana files MLC nomination 

Raises concerns over TDP candidate selection

Senior leader of the YSR Congress Party and former minister, Botsa Satyanarayana, has officially filed his nomination for the upcoming MLC elections representing Visakhapatnam local bodies. The nomination was submitted on Monday, with his wife Botsa Jhansi, Golagani Harivenkata Kumari, former ministers Gudivada Amarnath and Budi Mutyala Naidu, and Aruku MP Tanuja Rani accompanying him. The deadline for filing nominations for the MLC election ends on Tuesday, August 13.

Speaking to the media post-nomination, Botsa made several pointed remarks, particularly questioning the Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) decision to field a candidate despite the YSR Congress Party holding a significant majority. Botsa noted that the YSR Congress Party, under the leadership of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has over 500 more votes than the TDP, yet the latter is proceeding with a candidate in the race.

He expressed confidence in the YSR Congress’s position, stating that the party holds 530 of the 838 votes available in the election. In a critical tone, Botsa addressed the speculation that the TDP, in alliance with the NDA, is considering nominating an industrialist for the MLC seat. He questioned whether the TDP is attempting to use a businessman to influence voters, calling such a move a “crime” by the TDP government if it were true. Botsa also questioned the message Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu intends to send to the people of Uttarandhra by endorsing such a candidate
