Special chief secretary MT Krishnababu announced that a special program for cancer diagnosis at the village level will be initiated from August 15.
This initiative aims to address the significant number of cancer cases reported in the State annually, with 50,000 to 70,000 new cases each year and 1.47 lakh patients currently undergoing treatment.
Krishnababu highlighted the government’s commitment to combating cancer, noting that Andhra Pradesh allocates Rs 680 crore annually for cancer treatment.
This new program is part of the State’s ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare services and ensure early detection and treatment of cancer in rural areas.
The village-level cancer diagnosis program is expected to improve accessibility to cancer screening and early diagnosis, thereby increasing the chances of successful treatment and better outcomes for patients
